The extent of the right wing Christian posturing against the government leaves me a little chagrinned. Civil authority was developed in part to stop evil doers and to protect weak. Jesus said he came, among other things, to free the oppressed.

- I grew up in suburban Detroit, between 8 and 9 Mile. My dad was nearly full blood--his mother was Chippewa--his father, Cherokee. My mom looks Cherokee. My two sisters, Debi, Kim, and I love to read, think, write and talk. Ken Dowdy, my 6'4" love with hazel eyes and a golden voice, married me 35 years ago. And your beloved Detroit is a perfect example of government over-reach. And what a wonderful liberal city it is.
The problems of Detroit due to government over-reach? Is it that simple? Certainly there has been corruption, but the decline of the auto industry--a problem of government?
